AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
Working to protect human rights worldwide.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL is an NGO created for and developed around international recognition of human rights. Founded in the UK in the 1961, it has almost two million members,
supporters and subscribers in more than 150 countries around the world.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL fights to protect physical and mental integrity, freedom of thought and speech, and aims to stop every kind of discrimination. Its main activities include
offering solidarity to victims of human rights violations, research activities, trial assistance and meetings with local authorities and institutions for the defence of human rights.

At present AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL is tackling two international campaigns to put an end to violence against women and to fight gun trafficking.

AMREF

Help Africa to need no more help.

AMREF was founded in 1957 as a small foundation based in Nairobi and in 50 years has become
the continent’s leading health development organization.

Every health problem in Africa is an expression of the economic, social and environmental
problems that afflict the continent : from the fight to HIV/AIDS epidemic, that AMREF has fought since the early ’80s, to the effort of taking water sources to rural and urban population already running on empty, to the defense of nomad tribes risking extinction, to the work with street boys in urban slums.

AMREF is unique as it is an African born and African based organization with a 97% African
multi-disciplinary workforce of 500, running 140 development projects in 22 African countries.

Through the active participation of local communities, AMREF aims to help health
and social development in the poorest populations, because Africa’s health is in its autonomous
development.

EMERGENCY

Life support for civilian war victims.

EMERGENCY is an independent, neutral and non-political organization, founded to provide
assistance to the civilian victims of war and landmines. It provides free, high quality, medical and surgical support in war zones, and promotes a culture of solidarity, peace and respect for human rights.

All EMERGENCY facilities are built and run by international personnel who train local staff
thoroughly, with the goal of eventually making the area self-sustainable.

Since 1994 EMERGENCY’s teams have provided assistance to over 2.3 million people
in the organization’s 8 hospitals, 4 rehabilitation centres, 1 maternity center and 54 first aid posts and health care centres all around the world.

EMERGENCY is currently active in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka
and Sudan.

GREENPEACE

This fragile earth deserves a voice.

GREENPEACE has been campaigning against environmental degradation since 1971 and today
has 2.8 million supporters worldwide.

GREENPEACE is committed to the principles of non-violence, political independence
and internationalism.

It promotes an open, informed debate about society’s environmental choices and uses
research, lobbying, and quiet diplomacy to pursue its goals, as well as a high-profile, non-violent
campaign to raise the level and quality of public debate.

To maintain its independence GREENPEACE does not accept donations from governments
or corporations, but relies on contributions from individual supporters and foundation grants.

GREENPEACE, other than supporting and financing international campaigns, ensures
the maintenance of its fleet, invests in scientific research and technological innovation, works
on specific international campaigns in key countries and offers economical support the smaller organization offices unable to finance themselves.

LILA

20 Years against commonplaces.

LILA, the Italian League for the Fight against AIDSis a federation of associations and groupsof volunteers, founded in 1987. Both peoplewho are infected by HIV and those who are not,work together in LILA to fight AIDS.There are many local regional centres spreadthroughout Italy.

The main areas the organization is focusingon are prevention of AIDS, therapies, damagereduction, prostitution, jail, and respectingthe rights of the individual. In other words,the development of social and health policies.

LILA promotes and defends the right to healthand is committed to state principles and solidarity.It fights against every form of violation of human,civil and citizenship rights of the HIV or AIDSinfected people and also promotes humanand social integration tools.

LILA collaborates with other Europeanand Italian NGOs and with the main nationalinstitutions.
LILA, since its birth, has chosen not to demandor accept contributions from pharmaceuticalcompanies.

UNICEF

The leading advocate for children's rights in the world.

The organization is mandated by the United NationsGeneral Assembly and active in 190 countries throughnational programmes and Committees.We work with local communities, organisationsand governments to make a lasting differenceto children’s lives.Our global reach allows us to share knowledge acrossborders while our local presence – almost 85 per centof UNICEF staff work in developing countries – meanswe can deliver assistance where it is needed most.With our worldwide presence, UNICEF is readyto respond rapidly wherever disaster strikes, deliveringlife-saving help for children.

UNICEF works to establish children’s rights as enduringethical principles and international standardsof behaviour towards children. UNICEF believes thatevery child should have clean water, food, health care,education, and a safe environment in which to grow up.UNICEF upholds the UN Convention on the Rightsof the Child and works to hold the internationalcommunity responsible for their promises to children.

UNICEF mobilizes political will and materialresources to help countries, particularly developingcountries and responds in emergencies for the mostdisadvantaged children - victims of war, disasters,extreme poverty, all forms of violence and exploitationand those with disabilities.

UNICEF is non-partisan and its cooperation is freeof discrimination, promoting the equal rights of womenand girls and supporting their full participationin the political, social, and economic developmentof their communities. UNICEF is not funded by the UN.Instead, we rely on voluntary donations to fundour work for children worldwide.

WWF

One of the world's largest independent conservation organizations.
